WOC | Artist Of The Month

A Rotterdam November 2008

Not much has changed other than a few new members and definitely a lot more fans – myself included. The name “A Rotterdam November” was chosen after Jared Nelson studied a writing about the city of Rotterdam during WWII where the bombing destroyed nearly the whole city. A Russian artist called it “the city without a heart.”

If you've heard the radio single "Love Is Here," you already know that it's not saying anything much that's new by inviting listeners to "come to the water" to experience the immediacy of Christ's love. Musically, it's not very unique either, but admittedly well-made Christian adult contemporary that's extremely marketable to today's Christian radio climate. Hence why the single is performing well, and the same holds true for the rest of Over and Underneath.

KGRG is a local rock station that is for the P'd off teenagers, the non conformity, and the adults that just dont wanna grow up. We look at the youth of the Washington outcasts as an example to find what makes our format KGRG FM. Its our duty to bring you what you want when you want it, without the corprate propaganda. KGRG became Todays rock back in late december of 1988/early january of 1989 playing unheard of music from the local garages of southern Washington which brought to the public bands like Green River, Mudhoney, Mother love bone, and a little band from Aberdeen Washington called Nirvana.
To keep the ideals of Today's Rock we went with playing new music through the years and brought up many more bands. Such as MXPX, Sub-Motiv, Aiden, This Providence, and HIMSA. Today we bring you many bands of different genres and movements that influence the following of Today's Rock and having many Specialty Shows displaying the love for certain music genres such as Punk, Psychobilly, Hardcore, Metal, Progressive, Hip hop, J-Rock, and Experimental. Overall the listeners make the differance. With All Request Fridays, it puts the audience in control of showing us what they want and give the best idea for what in their minds makes Today's Rock. 20 years later, we still fight strong and continue to as long there is a drive and a movement that is KGRG.
